Stanislaus County annually rates as one of the top five counties in the state for teen births and pregnancies, according to Stanislaus County Youth for Christ Mentor Moms Director Alissa Collins
Our Mentor Moms, Teen MOMS & Teen DADS programs seek to reach these pregnant and parenting teens with through caring relationships, practical training, insightful guest speakers and most certainly the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
This is done through significant one-on-one relationships Mentor Moms and/or through the practical opportunities that come with the hosting young moms in support and training groups Teen Moms Group. Our Teen DADS program works with 8-10 young men within the Juvenile Hall facility.
Through our Teen Moms club at Elliott Education center, and our Teen Dads program at Juvenile Hall, we believe we have the capacity to impact two generations, end the cycle of abuse and poverty so often associated with teen pregnancies and bring real hope and potential for a future for these young parents and their babies.
We also believe that the message of Salvation will be readily received and responded to as mature Christian women earn the right to be heard through these vibrant ministry programs to these young women. In the future we believe that YFC can facilitate as many as 50 Mentor Moms matches and 5-6 Teen MOMS groups throughout the county.
